Library for all – The new Lensahn library is a multifunctional, public building that is accessible and attractive for as many user groups as possible. It is not just a place for books, but first and foremost a place for people. The building creates a new public space that is accessible to all, forming a hinge between two streets and the church square. The sidewalk continues into the building, which provides an attractive setting for community activities. The diverse functions are combined in a clear volume, which is entered through a transparent and inviting lobby. The first floor is fully glazed and therefore appears bright, inviting and visually connected to the surroundings, while the upper floor is enclosed with a wooden facade. A great emphasis was placed on the sustainable and future-proof choice of materials, construction and room configurations. A robust wooden construction, clear divisions, smart energy systems and a well-proportioned and well-lit volume make the building ready for every future to come.
